Assessment Stages And Timeline

STAGE 1
ONLINE APPLICATION

Applicants submit an online proposal outlining vision and objectives for the development of new work with some reference to practice history.

This is not an essay writing contest, nor a chance to illustrate your abilities at condensing meaning into dot-points, or responding to criteria line by line.

We need to grasp your development idea, the ambitions for the development, how it relates to your practice and where you want to take it, and who is travelling with you on this development and why.

We're not looking for enormous detail regarding the development plan at this stage, we need to understand the core of the idea, the key targets, and the big picture of the development plan rather than the nitty-gritty.

Applications will be assessed independently by panel members prior to their collective discussion, then decision made on the first short-list.

STAGE 2
FIRST SHORT-LIST DISCUSSIONS WITH PANEL

Short-listed applicants will be invited to take part in a discussion with the selection panel.

This is an opportunity to talk about your idea, where you want to take it, and how you're going to take it there.

We might ask for you to bring relevant support material, but will discuss this with you on a case-by-case basis when we are organising a time for your discussion.

STAGE 3
SECOND SHORT-LIST FUNDED TO DEVELOP PROPOSAL FURTHER

After Stage 2 a selection of the first short-list will be invited to develop their proposal further, and are given $1000 each to do so.

These Stage 3 proposals will include a detailed budget that identifies whether you are targeting a $30,000, $60,000 or $90,000 investment, a fully scoped timeline for development, adequate suitable support material and will fully address key criteria for the initiative including how the proposal embraces critical challenge, new explorations, vision, ambition and development rigour.

More information about this will be provided if you are invited to develop a proposal.

STAGE 4
PROPOSAL DISCUSSIONS

A more in-depth discussion with the selection panel takes place after proposals are received and independently assessed.

An additional panel member external to the three participating organisations will take part in this discussion, with second short-list informed as to who this is in the lead up.

STAGE 5
WATDI PROJECTS ANNOUNCED

Between two - four developments will be awarded WATDI support of up to $90,000 each.

Application and Proposal Feedback:

Individual feedback will not be available to applicants as to why their projects were not successful.
